Surrealism

Born in the early 1920’s, the surrealist art movement allowed artists the latitude to take their subconscious and philosophical realities, and blend them with the real. Taking on the everyday, a surrealist artist contorts, skews, and twists the imagery to deliver a new message to the viewer of an altered reality. Like Salvador Dali, one of the foremost Surrealist painters, my work in this genre intends to take the known, – into the unknown.

Major Influencers: Paul Klee, Arshile Gorky, Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, Giorgio de Chirico, Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Jean Metzinger, Robert Delaunay, Marcel Duchamp, Francis Bacon.
